Dear Parents, Carers and Students
Expanding a bit…..
I have never envied Woodhouse College their examination results. Indeed I am always a little surprised at how they compare with our own, considering their higher entry requirements. However I do envy them their front lawn. It’s a great photo opportunity and we really couldn’t compete………..until now.
After two years of negotiations, we have managed to acquire a small section of the adjacent golf club. This land will enable us to open up the rear of our sixth form block and create a separate area for sixth formers to relax and unwind away from all the other cares of the school.
Myself and Mr Starkie, The Sixth Form Director, are still in heated discussions between picnic tables or a croquet lawn but whatever is decided upon, I think it will make a positive addition to our school environment.
Expanding a bit more
In the past 8 years, APS has grown in success and in student numbers. We are now the most popular school in the area and educate more Haringey sixth form students than any other provider. These students are all welcome but they do, of course, also take up room. I am pleased to confirm that we have now gained agreement, funding and planning permission for the construction of a new teaching block. This will consist of 8 classrooms with offices and toilets.
The building will be erected at the end of the Sports Hall. We have chosen a high specification modular building design. The building is being constructed off-site and will be erected in the summer holidays in time for September. This should avoid any disturbance to the daily life of the school. The site team will be busy this summer as alongside this new building, they will be overseeing the constructing of two new science labs, an IT suite and a new media department.
In a time of funding cuts and for some schools, paralysis or contraction, I am pleased that at APS we have been able to continue on our path of school improvement.
