Much like a parent being asked which of their children is the favourite, as Headteacher of Alexandra Park School it is not appropriate to single out one department for praise. However just this once...
Well done to the Science team, all 19 of them, who have just celebrated National Science Week through a wide variety of activities from stroking tarantulas to making ice cream. We had sixth form students attending theoretical particle physics lectures at Oxford whilst Year 7 students were making crystal gardens. The Science team do a tremendous job bringing science to life and keeping science real. Although this reality might have been undermined by a recent very generous gift from a parent.
Last week, APS became the proud owner of a complete class set of virtual reality goggles. This top-of-the-range equipment, alongside the latest software, enables students to walk through crystal structures, be present at the start of the universe or dive deep into the oceans.
This is a tremendously generous gift given to us to celebrate Science Week and to thank us for the work we do welcoming students into Year 7 from so many different primary schools.
I would like to offer a public thank you for this very kind gift, which will greatly benefit our students.
