Christmas Notices

Dear Students, Parents and Carers

xmas tree 01The final two weeks of term before the Christmas holiday are always busy and involve some alterations to the usual schedule, so please make a note of the following changes and dates for your diary.

On Monday 10th December, the science department are hosting The Ogden Christmas Lecture. This year our own Mr. Nicholls will present his fascinating talk on Sharks, Home and Away – Adventures from the UK and around the world. This is a popular, ticket only event. Pre-ordered Christmas trees purchased through the APS Parents’ Association can also be collected from the school playground on 10th December between 4.30-5.30pm and 6.30-7.30pm.  We will be serving mince pies, mulled wine and hot chocolate.

Year 11 students begin their GCSE mock examinations from Monday 10th December. Students have been given all relevant details and the mock timetable is available on the school website. We wish them all the best of luck.

Christmas lunch will be served on Wednesday 19th December. The cost of the lunch will be £3.20, which will include a full turkey dinner with all the trimmings and a desert. A vegetarian option will also be available. Free school meal tickets can also be used. Snacks and sandwiches will only be on sale at break time.

Student tracker information for Years 7 – 11 will be sent home with students on Wednesday 19th December.

On Thursday 20th December, we will hold Celebration Assemblies for each year group when awards are presented to students for excellent attendance, engagement, achievement and to those students who have demonstrated the APS values.

On Friday 21st December there will be an optional non-uniform day (£1 if paid in advance; £2 if you pay on the day).  The money raised will be donated to the following charities: Save the Children, All People All Places, which is a local homeless charity, and Don’t Forget the Kids, another local charity who give help and support to young people who have a family member being treated for cancer. There will be an early dismissal for students at 12.30pm. Students on free school meals can collect a lunch at breaktime.

Please remember that the Headteacher’s Newsletter, along with an increasing amount of other school correspondence, is now delivered by email – do inform the school if your email address changes.

This has been a busy and productive term at Alexandra Park School and I thank you all for your continuing support. The staff and I wish you and your families Season’s Greetings and a very Happy New Year.

Yours sincerely

Michael McKenzie
