This was the first summer where students began sitting the new style, more rigourous examinations in GCSE English and Maths.  These new awards contain far more content at a higher level and their assessment is entirely by written examination, with no practical or coursework element.  We are delighted that our students rose to the challenge, with 85% achieving at least a Grade 4 in English and Mathematics.

  • 3 of our students were amongst the 2000 students nationally to achieve the new top grade 9 in English Language, English Literature and Mathematics.
  • In total 47 Grade 9s were achieved by our students in the new GCSE.
  • Overall 39% of all the GCSE examinations taken by our students were awarded the top A*/A grades
  • One in three students achieved the new Grade 7 in both English and Maths
  • 65% of students achieved at least a Grade 5 in English and Maths
  • 44% of students acheived the English Baccalaureate

  • Progress 8 is a value-added measure which compares each student's progress to the national average of students with the same level of prior attainment (based on KS2 results) each year.
  • Attainment 8 is similar to an average total points score of a student's best eight grades with certain subjects prioritised (including the double-weighting of English and Maths)
