Dear Students, Parents and Carers
There are many parallels between the role we do as educators and that of a gardener.
Any keen horticulturist will tell you that it is a constant task. They will talk about the specific jobs you do throughout the year: mulching, pruning, sowing and mowing. They are also acutely aware that you get out what you put in. The staff at APS are a committed and skilled team. They know just what to do, at just the right time and for the finest results. Best of all, they have a passion for their role.
Finally any real gardener is always far too busy to sit in their garden. They only ever stop and enjoy the fruits of their labours when visitors arrive.
Last week’s Open Evening saw over 1400 people visit the school and the feedback was wholly positive - “an inspirational school”, “this is what every state school should be like”, “a joy to visit”.
As a school we would probably be described as a “mixed border” but through the hard work and care of everybody we have certainly blossomed.
This academic year has started off very well and I have the highest expectations of the year ahead.
