Dear Parents, Carers and Students
What a busy half term. I sometimes wonder how we find any time to teach. Despite my best efforts to slow down my colleagues or dampen their enthusiasm, they just can't seem to help themselves.
In this 5-week half term we have celebrated Book Week, Science Week and two music evenings. We have held whole school debates across all year groups, bid for seeds from space, interviewed ministers as part of BBC News Reporter Day, entered the Physics Olympiad and UK Maths Challenge, and had our say at the STEM Commission. Our students have won the Performing Shakespeare and Poetry by Heart Competitions. Others have been to Austria, Iceland and China. We've had year 10 involved in an enterprise project and Year 7 have been sleeping out to raise money for Syria. Year 8 have been researching local charities and raising funds through First Give.
As for the teaching, I'm a great believer in the Benjamin Franklin quote
if you want something done, ask a busy person
